Experience an Eco Awakening - ecoCULTURE

Somewhere deep in the rolling countryside between Toronto and London, the ecolution is in motion… consciousness is evolving and eco-spiritual discoveries are being forged.
We wanted to write about ecoCULTURE this week and had no Idea what an amazing discovery we were about to make… with our streets and public spaces littered with trash, and summer nowhere in sight (weather diviners that we spoke of in our last feature- we’re looking at you) we are definitely feeling The Living Centre’s philosophical idealism right now.
Located in the heart of Canada's Carolinian zone (the southernmost region of Canada & home to more rare plants and animals than any other part of the country… magical!) you can re-examine your relationship with nature in the serene comfort of a stellar 50 acre sanctuary of wild meadows, forest-woodland, tranquil ponds, luscious organic gardens and orchards.
Founded in 1983, and offering the high quality, leading edge training in the fields of Health, Nutrition, Eco-Spirituality and Peace Consciousness, The Living Centre is the brainchild (and heartchild) of founders Lorenna and Shantree - internationally celebrated visionaries, authors, educators, nutritional researchers and world peace workers.
Their Eco-Spiritual Education Sanctuary offers an eco-bounty of ways to get in touch with nature and with ourselves… Its mission is candid and ripe with conviction: “The purpose of The Living Centre is to promote a renaissance in human thought, values and conscience based on healing, eco-sustainability and openness.” Their wish is to grow together as global citizens; and to contribute towards the creation of a culture based in peace; True leaders in the now emerging Blue movement!
The Centre has evolved since its inception from a retreat to a full-on movement (in human consciousness). It recognizes that physical, emotional, spiritual and ecological health are the four essential factors in achieving human potential, success, and creating a healthy, happy, balanced life and society… And they’re making good on that notion - providing a venue unlike any other for conscious individuals to ‘be the change.’
The Centre is dedicated to offering programs designed to support life-affirming eco-education and leadership. Tour the incredible medicine wheel garden and be inspired to discover Visionary Herbalism or Ayurvedic Nutrition - a few of the courses taught by Living centre co-founder Shantree Walter Kacera. (Former VP of the Ontario Herbalists Association … not to mention: Ayurvedic Live-Food Nutritionist, Therapeutic & Shamanic Herbalist, and Constitutional Iridology Educator).
If its creative release you seek, check out the ‘Earth Wisdom Creative Expression Programs’ led by co-founder Lorenna Bousquet-Kacera. Lorenna, a creativity-coach with 35 years experience being both student and teacher of spirituality, holistic healing and the 'art of living' is also a Certified Ayurvedic Living Nutrition Educator and Sevenfold Path Lifestyle coach with a specialty in trauma resolution. Lorenna believes that our only hope for the future is to adopt a new concept of human ecology; one in which we celebrate the gift of imagination and creativity.
We love them already. Nuff said.
The Green Element:
The Living Centre is committed to ecological practices that maintain and restore health of natural ecosystems, local economies and the well being of their apprentices, students and guests. Striving to ensure that they step lightly on the earth - they accomplish this in a wealth of ways:
- Organic edible forest practices
- Energy efficient operations
- Little to no fossil fuel usage
- Water conservation
- Protecting biodiversity
- Menus that feature only local, organic foods (and incorporate Ayurvedic principles)
- Harnessing consumer power to support equally green businesses
Impressive…The list goes on but its obvious they’ve got all the marks of a truly ecocentric operation - continually exploring new paths toward sustainability.
Forward the ecolution!
