Of Plastic Reborn - ecoDECO
How many ways can plastic be transformed...? It's infinite.
If you’re looking for something truly unique to add statement to your décor then have a look at Soon Cho’s sustainable and chic creations. Soon Cho is a textile artist who constructs one-of-a-kind pieces for the home including lighting, space dividers, window covers, wall hangings, and even placemats.
What we really love about her is the fact that she views the world with artist’s eyes - those individuals lucky enough to be blessed with this perspective look upon the world, each and everything in it, as art unto itself... and Soon Cho is taking that viewpoint one step further by veritably plucking randoms from the environment (old plastic bottles to spilled juice to garbage bags) and weaving them into her world of dreams to produce some of the coolest, most unique, work we’ve seen in a while.
Soon works with all manner of elements, specifically upcycling everyday materials (that most of us tend to overlook), from natural elements, to repurposed trash- she even finds beauty in a piece of chewed gum. Her creativity allows her to invent new materials using plastic, paper, fabric and more…
Dig on how she transforms plastic into the funkiest of lighting fixtures... (these lamps are made from non-toxic gimp- taking those popular gimp bracelets from the 90's to a whole new level). Her floor lamps and light spheres will be featured at the Interior Design Show in Toronto this January. In the meantime, you can explore the world of Soon Cho and order your own handmade and custom designed piece at:
